Sara Elizabeth Lee is going to be speaking at a CLE scheduled for May 20, 2008 in Mobile at the Radisson Admiral Semmes Hotel. The CLE, entitled "The Art of the Settlement," is sponsored by National Business Institute. The topics she will be presenting include: "How to Succeed at Settlement Conferences," "Using Mediation When Settlements Don't Work," and participation in a mock settlement negotiation.

Lyons, Pipes & Cook invests in downtown Mobile.

Lyons, Pipes & Cook is pleased to announce that A. Kelly Sessoms, III and Barry W. Andrews have joined the firm as partners. Mr. Sessoms will practice in the firm's Mississippi office and Mr. Andrews will practice in the firm's Mobile office.

Cooper is the president of the firm. He started his practice with LPC in 1970, and he practices in all state and federal courts throughout the State of Alabama.

Cooper received his B.A degree from the University of Mississippi in 1966 and his J.D. degree from the University of Alabama in 1970. He served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve from 1966 to 1972. He is a native of Mobile. His practice concentrates on civil litigation, including product and professional liability, insurance coverage and bad faith, wrongful death, toxic tort and premises liability.

Cooper is active in both the Mobile and State of Alabama Bar Associations, having served on numerous committees. He has also held several offices, including President of the Mobile Bar Association. He is a frequent lecturer at various CLE seminars and is the author of "Basic Legal Skills, Ethics in Advocacy and Attorney Fees." Cooper serves as a member of the United States District Court Magistrate Selection Committee of the Southern District of Alabama, 1999-present; Civil Justice Reform Act Committee, 1995 present; Federal Defender Organization Board Director, 1994-2000; The Best Lawyers in America (commercial litigation, insurance law and product liability litigation); Alabama Super Lawyers; Who's Who in American Law, 1991-present; Board of Advisors Mobile Chamber of Commerce, 1995-present.
