Lyons, Pipes & Cook is pleased to announce that Britten L. Britt has been recognized as one of the Bay area’s “40 Under 40” in Mobile Bay Monthly magazine.  This award  recognizes 40 of the top local individuals under the age of 40 “who demonstrate leadership, professional excellence and a commitment to the Bay area community”.

A. Kelly Sessoms, in the firm’s Pascagoula office, has been included in the 2009 Mid-South Super Lawyers for Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi.

Allen “Teeto” Graham was recently elected Treasurer of the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute.

Long time LPC employee Amy Kleinschrodt, who is a member of Buccaneer Yacht Club in Mobile, and her crew of Sara Hall and Ashley Hall won the Mrs. Charles Francis Adams Trophy and gold medals for First Place in the 2009 U.S. Women’s Sailing Championship. Amy and her crew will defend their title on Lake Michigan in 2010.

Practice Areas: Employment Law, Personal Injury Defense (Wrongful Death, Industrial Accidents), Insurance Coverage Questions, Motor Vehicle Accidents, and Municipal Law.

Jay was born in Sumter County, Alabama and has been practicing with LPC since graduating from law school in 1985. He regularly practices in the state court in all counties of southern Alabama as well as the U.S. District Courts throughout the state.

Jay graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.A. degree in 1981. He obtained his J.D. degree from Cumberland School of Law in 1985 and served as an associate editor of the Cumberland Law Review. His practice focuses on all aspects of employment law, the defense of personal injury cases with specialization in defense of wrongful death, products liability, industrial accidents, and fraud claims. Jay also handles insurance coverage questions for numerous clients. He is a certified mediator and serves as City Attorney for the Cities of Chickasaw and Satsuma, Alabama. Jay also serves as attorney for the Chickasaw Industrial Development Board, the Utilities Board for the City of Chickasaw, and for the Waterworks and Sewer Board for the City of Satsuma. He frequently lectures businesses on employment law and employment policies.

Jay serves on the Board of Directors for the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association (ADLA), is a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI), and the Alabama Association for Municipal Attorneys. He is also a member of the Downtown Rotary Club and the GMAC Bowl 1st and 10 Club.

Jay is a member of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church and is married to Nancy Minus. They have four children: Joseph, Laura, Matthew, and Leigh.
