Sara Elizabeth Lee is going to be speaking at a CLE scheduled for May 20, 2008 in Mobile at the Radisson Admiral Semmes Hotel. The CLE, entitled "The Art of the Settlement," is sponsored by National Business Institute. The topics she will be presenting include: "How to Succeed at Settlement Conferences," "Using Mediation When Settlements Don't Work," and participation in a mock settlement negotiation.

Lyons, Pipes & Cook is pleased to announce that A. Kelly Sessoms, III and Barry W. Andrews have joined the firm as partners. Mr. Sessoms will practice in the firm's Mississippi office and Mr. Andrews will practice in the firm's Mobile office.

Robert C. Matthews and A. Grady "Bo" Williams, IV have joined the firm as associates. Mr. Matthews and Mr. Williams will practice in the firm's Mobile office.

Barry W. Andrews has extensive corporate and business legal experience at the local, national and international levels. This includes significant transactional work in the areas of mergers and acquisitions; banking and finance; private equity; intellectual property, software, technology and licensing arrangements; and real estate purchasing and leasing. In addition to his transactional “deal” work, Mr. Andrews has assisted a multitude of clients around the nation in drafting and negotiating their numerous contract and legal arrangements, and he has advised clients on various ongoing day-to-day business legal matters, strategies and issues. His clients have ranged from family-owned start up businesses to members of the Fortune 500.

Mr. Andrews earned his B.A. in 1990 from Yale University, studying American Literature and American Studies. He went on to earn his J.D. in 1995 from the University of Notre Dame.

Before joining Lyons, Pipes & Cook as a Partner on November 1, 2007, Mr. Andrews spent over 12 years practicing at the headquarters office of Baker & Hostetler LLP, a national, 10 office, 600 lawyer law firm, serving 5 years as a partner. He was repeatedly elected by peers and senior attorneys as one of Ohio’s best “Rising Star” attorneys. He brings with him substantial, broad-based experience to assist the many clients of Lyons, Pipes & Cook with their numerous corporate and commercial legal needs.

Mr. Andrews met his wife, Mary Beth Andrews, while they were together attending the University of Notre Dame. Mary Beth was raised in Mobile and is the daughter of John and Karin Welch, History Professor of Spring Hill College and Montessori teacher, respectively. Mr. and Mrs. Andrews now reside on the Eastern Shore, where they are active raising their 3 young children, daughter, Maeve, and sons, Rory and Patrick. They are members of Christ The King Church in Daphne, AL.

In addition to his legal career and fatherhood, Mr. Andrews also enjoys golf and fishing. He is an avid fisherman, pursuing freshwater, saltwater and fly-fishing, and he has traveled around the world to enjoy fishing. He is excited to become a part of Mobile’s growing economy.

Examples of Mr. Andrews' practice include: representing a national fly-fishing and outdoor sporting goods retail company in establishing resort branding and licensing programs; assisting a manufacturing corporation in securing $900,000,000 in credit facilities from a syndication of banks; and negotiating licensing arrangements on behalf of a software company and the eventual sale of this company on behalf of its shareholders to a national Silicon Valley based buyer.
